hammock –
the falling pitch
of a departing crow
qy
a mug of coffee …
new screws in
my old table
nb
she counts
sand grains on her knee…
breaking waves
jb
receding wave
sunset spreads
over wet sand
qy
remnants
of the dog’s ball –
first magnolia
nb
blue hills
the last lorikeet
falls silent
jb
the tangle
of rainforest roots …
birdsong
qy
chilly park –
a Starbucks cup
on the memorial
nb
abandoned dairy
the holding pen full
of milk thistles
jb
a water dragon stops
and disappears …
lichened rock
qy
frost-tipped grass
the child’s hands retract
into her sleeves
nb
open road
the hitchhiker shakes
a pebble out

mid-summer
a mullet rows itself
under the bridge
jb
clear sky –
one wispy cloud
deepens the blue
qy
wind on my cheek
the dam’s surface
wrinkles
nb
the train home
phone lines swoop
post to post
jb
trimmed hedge –
a new shoot
out of line
qy
magpies call …
circles in the creek
overlap
nb
school oval
the incoming batsman
beheads clover
jb
light shower …
a sprinkle of toadstools
over the grass
qy
autumn drizzle
the old mattress
oozes stuffing
nb
gurgling stream
the stone in my hand
dies silently
jb
rainforest –
the sound of a breeze
passing through
qy
breathing
in time with the dog…
evening stillness
