Rose
Baudin has studied and practiced yoga for 30 years and has taught
for 20. She met her mentor Swami Gauribala in Sri Lanka in 1971,
and was initiated into the lineage of the Tamil Siddhas in 1984.
During the 16 years she lived in India, she was instructed by master
teachers in the various schools of yoga: Integral, Iyengar, Vini,
& Astanga as well as extensive meditation experience under the
guidance of S.N. Goenka (Vipassana), Zen Master Hogen-san Yamahata,
(Soto sect), and Sayadaw U Janaka (Satipatthana Insight Meditation).
Since 1986, Rose has been based in Australia teaching yoga classes
& weekend meditation retreats, as well as instructing and
lecturing at Yoga Arts, an international school for teacher training.
She has been conducting yoga intensives, residential retreats
and seminars internationally for the past 11 years, including
thrice yearly in French Polynesia. She has co-instructed retreats
at Inner Harmony, Utah, with Dr. Robert Svoboda and Krishna Das.
Rose has studied ayurveda with Dr. Svoboda since 1996 and Tantra
with Sam Wickramasinghe of Sri Lanka since 1999. Her spiritual
journey is described in YOGA: The Essence of Life by Alix Johnson,
a collection of interviews with 8 western yoga teachers.
Rose's teaching style is a natural integration of the above body
of knowledge and experience, incorporating ayurvedic wisdom and
weaving tantric practices into each class. Her sessions are challenging
yet energizing, structured yet spontaneous, focused yet humorous.
Strong emphasis is placed upon cultivation of concentration and
awareness of breath.
A WEEK IN UBUD, BALI : JOURNEYING TO THE INNER TEMPLE
The light and ecstasy of the Inner Temple and the awareness of
our Divine Origin, which naturally permeates one's being, is obscured
by Kleshas (afflictive emotions), Karma (consequences of selfish
actions), Conditioning (defining oneself by one's limitations),
Koshes (subtle bodies) and Doshes (a fault or error, a thing which
can go wrong in our constitutions).
This week-long retreat will focus on elimination of debilitating
toxins and enhance cultivation of "juiciness". While
participants are flushing out unwanted waste through colonics,
juices and massage, our yoga class will focus on purification
of the five subtle bodies known as Koshas. Asana for elimination
of physical impurities while promoting balance, rejuvenation,
strength and confidence. Pranayama for removing obstructions in
the nadis (subtle conduits) while promoting increased energy and
mental clarity. Meditation for releasing mental ama (toxins) while
expanding awareness, promoting well-being and joyful participation
in all stages of life.
Each day will include an exploration into our understanding of
the kleshes, koshes, doshes, and karma through lectures, interactive
discussion (optional) and, most important of all, humour!

SACRED FIRE CEREMONY - AGNI HOTRA
Agni (fire) is the deity that represents all the other deities.
Agni is said to be the mouth of the gods. Agni is known as the
messenger of the gods. Whatever man has to say to the gods, to
the higher powers, he conveys it through Agni. All the gods are
fed through Agni. Agni is the link with the Supreme Lord of all
the worlds. Agnihotra or Havan is a primary and fundamental rite
during the performance of which oblations to the Supreme are offered
in the consecrated fire. The rite is usually performed in the external
fire in which the Supreme is invoked.
