About  Us

Wollumbin Haiku Workshop was formed in 2004 by the present members (bios below)

Nathalie Buckland
Quendryth Young
John Bird

with the object of becoming better haiku poets through discussion of haiku, sharing of literature, and criticism of each others' work.

We are all members of HaikuOz, the Australian Haiku Society and of cloudcatchers, a regional haiku group in the NE of NSW, Australia.

Our Workshops are held regularly at a member's home. In between, email round-robins provide a further opportunity for critiques.

The three of us came together from quite different backgrounds, but each had survived other writing workshops, was serious about haiku, and felt a genuine connection to the land where we live. These shared attributes help us work rigorously but smoothly in the sometimes stressful environment of a workshop.

The group does not critique non-members' work and has no plans to extend the membership.

This website was created in 2006 as an additional outlet for our poetry. It attempts to earn the attention and advice of world haijin so that we may continue to grow as poets.

We would love to hear from you, particularly if you feel you could help us improve our work.
